Preparing for Your Virtual Organizing Session
How to Take Great Photos + Measurements
We’re so excited to support you on your organizing journey—wherever you are!
To make the most of your virtual session, we ask that you send us a few photos and basic measurements of your space ahead of time. These details allow your organizer to come to your appointment fully prepared with tailored insights and ideas specific to your needs, style, and goals.
You don’t need a professional camera or a perfectly styled space—just follow the simple tips below to help us get a clear sense of layout, function, and flow. With your input and our expertise, we’ll create solutions that bring ease and intention to your home, one space at a time.
How to Take Accurate Measurements
-
Measure the Full Space.
Use a tape measure or laser measuring tool to record the length, width, and height of the space.
If measuring a cabinet, closet, or pantry, include shelf depth and height between shelves.
-
Measure Doors & Openings.
Note the width and height of doors, especially if they open into the space.
If taking measurements for bins or shelving, measure the inside width and depth of the space, not just the exterior.
-
Include Key Features.
Mark the locations of outlets, light switches, vents, and built-in storage that may affect product placement.
If applicable, measure the height of items stored (e.g., cereal boxes in a pantry or shoes in a closet).
-
Double-Check for Accuracy.
Measure twice to confirm numbers before submitting.
Round to the nearest ¼ inch for precision.
How to Take Great Photos of Your Space
-
Capture the Whole Space.
Stand back to get a full view of the area.
Stand in each corner of the room and take photos facing the opposite corner. This gives a full sense of layout, scale, and flow.
-
Include Key Details.
Show any built-in shelves, drawers, or unique features that may affect the organizing plan.
If certain areas are problematic (like clutter hotspots), include close-up shots.
-
Upload the Best Shots.
Select 3-5 of the clearest, most informative images.
If you're unsure, include extra photos rather than leaving out important details.
-
Include close-ups of problem areas or key zones
Any areas that feel cluttered, confusing, or hard to maintain.
– Include drawers, shelves, closets, or high-use surfaces. -
Photos with doors, drawers, and cabinets open (if applicable).
This helps us understand storage capacity and interior organization.
-
A few items that you’re not sure what to do with.
If you have things lingering on counters or in baskets, snap a quick photo—we can talk through options.
-
Use Good Lighting.
Take pictures in natural daylight if possible.
If needed, turn on lights to avoid dark or shadowy areas.

Make it stand out.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
